Parrot Relinquishment

The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary: A Permanent Sanctuary for Over 140 Parrots, dedicated to lifelong care.
We do not re-adopt, sell, or re-home any members of our flock.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE: AVIAN FLU UPDATE

Due to the ongoing avian flu outbreak, our facility is temporarily closed to the public and we are not currently accepting new relinquishments. We are, however, maintaining a Waiting List for future intake consideration.

Thinking of Rehoming?

Before making a permanent decision, please consider these proven methods to help you keep your companion:

Before You Rehome: Proven Ways to Stay Together

Many challenges that lead to rehoming are temporary or solvable with the right support. Please explore these options first:

1. Behavioral Support

Biting, screaming, and plucking are often symptoms of an underlying need rather than a personality flaw. Professional avian behaviorists can often solve "impossible" habits in just a few sessions, and simple changes to light cycles or diet can drastically reduce hormonal aggression.

2. Quality Interaction over Quantity

Your parrot wants to be included in your life. Moving their cage to the room where you spend the most time allows them to feel part of the flock passively. Introducing foraging toys can also keep a bird mentally occupied for hours while you are busy.

3. Financial & Resource Assistance

If the cost of care is an issue, resources like CareCredit or local pet pantries may assist with medical bills and food. Reach out to us directly—we may be able to connect you with subsidized veterinary contacts or temporary supply assistance.

If there is a 1% chance you can keep your bird, we want to help you find that path.

The TLZPS Sanctuary Oath

Lifetime Commitment: We provide a home for your parrot’s entire life.
Zero Commercialization: We will NEVER sell or re-adopt our parrots.
Superior Care: Healthy organic foods, professional vet care, and daily enrichment.
Love: We care for every bird as if they were our own children.

How the Process Works

If you have decided sanctuary life is the best option, we make the transition as smooth as possible:
Prepare Documentation: Fill out our Relinquishment, History, and Health Forms (PDF via email).
Gather Belongings: Please include your parrot's cage, food, toys, and medicines. Familiar items help them cope with their new environment.
Vet Records: Obtain a copy of your parrot's medical history from your avian vet.
Contact Us: Call (760) 333-9753 to join our waiting list and discuss a future intake date.
